All about Parent Visas and Immigration to Australia

Under the program ‘new family sponsorship visas’, if you are an Australian citizen or made Australia your home, you might be able to bring some of your family member too.

Parent visas

There are several parent visas pathways through which you can sponsor your parents on either a temporary or a permanent basis to be granted a visa for Australia. For immigration to Australia, you parents need to meet the ‘balance of family test’ which requires at least 50 per cent or more of their children to be settled in Australia with a permanent visa. It implies that if your parents have four children then two of them should be permanent visa holders in Australia only then will your parents be able to immigrate to Australia.

There are two main streams of parent visas namely Aged parent visa and contributory parent visa. The aged parent visa option is economical whereas the contributory parent visa is very expensive. Also, all parent visas require the parents to meet the character and health requirement as per the standard. For example, if you parent has a health issue, then they are likely to be a burden on the Australian economy, hence it might be difficult to get a visa for them.

Parent visas can be applied both in and outside Australia through the best immigrationconsultants for Australia. For applying a parent visa application in Australia, your parent has to be older than 65 years.
